Katherine Shock Garden Designer
Why does my garden look bitty when I've spent so much time and effort on it?
Frequently this happens when a garden has evolved over years, based on impulse-buying or adding just a few plants at a time. Sometimes this can work wonderfully, but so often the results are unsatisfactory. Garden centres are so keen to push what looks wonderful in flower but don't tell you fully about ultimate heights or how dull the plant is for most of the year. This often leads to the creation of little extra plots of interest in the garden to improve it but take away from its overall effect of tranquility or colour harmony.
